A Social and Historical Review of Muslim & Jews Relationship after the Prophethood

Abstract

After the last prophet the period of Hazrat Abu Bakr,Umer,Uthman and Ali is called Khilaphat Rashida. The Khilaphat Rashida which consists of thirty years is the most important section of Islam because the basic principles of Islam were practiced during this period. In this whole period where Muslims had a historic victory, they faced very typical situation between the Muslims also. This period is known as authentic period after the death of prophet. Where most of the principles are applicable for today as well as the rules and regulation adopted to establish relationship with other nations and religions are also as guiding principles for contemporary Muslims. At that period public had a lot of basic rights. Their Individual and political liberties were protected a lot. Both Muslims and Non-Muslims had equal rights and protection of these rights was the obligation of the government. No one was allowed to exploit others or deprive from rights. Non-Muslims had totally religious freedom along with live, property and honour’s security and protection. Muslim relationship with Jews were based on the Islamic principles regarding relations with non-Muslims. At that time since Jews were living under the rule of Muslims the calipah treated them better way according to Islamic constitution. According to Islamic law who they were living in Daruslam دارالسلامhad been given the status of Zimi ذمی. Therefor the caliphs who came after the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) treated them well in the light of their given instructions regarding Zimi ذمی and gave their all rights.
