Abstract

Legal status of taxes in Islam"There are different opinions on the Shariah status of taxes in Islamic jurisprudence and there have been detailed debates on the subject among Muslim muftis and scholars. There are generally two opinions regarding the Shariah status of taxes. Meaning of Zakat: Zakat is a component of Islamic worship .Government support: According to other views, taxes can be a form of government support. This theory holds that the government has the legal authority to take financial measures for the welfare and development of its citizens. Taxes can be used to finance the development of the country, the provision of public amenities, economic exploitation and the investment of the judicial system. Scholars may differ on the Shariah status of taxes in Islamic ethics, and it is not easy to find a concise answer. Generally, the detailed Shariah status of government taxes can be obtained from various fatwa institutions, religious councils and clerics who will be determined under the country's Shariah system.
