Ethical Upbringings/Ṭarbiyyah of Children in Islam and the Duties of Parents

The study aims to highlight the roles and responsibilities of Parents within the context of their children’s upbringings. The human personality that Islam seeks to build is adorned with moral values. It wishes to make its adherents the scapegoats of high morality. Ethical and moral values are given more focus and importance in Islam. Family institutions play a vital role in building nations by transforming ethical and moral values to inhabitants. Parenting is one of the most difficult and demanding tasks in the world. Parents are responsible for shaping the child’s behavior with positive moral values. Food is one of the most important necessities that is needed for the existence of the human body. Therefore, Islam provides complete and clear concept regarding lawful and unlawful things for human life. The papers address the questions: what does upbringing/Tarbiyah means? Whether parenting is easy task? What kind of moral and ethical aspects of training should be considered on priority base by the parents? The study concludes that providing awareness in children at an early age is important and the family plays a vital role in this regard. The study will be helpful for the parents and families in recognizing their duties to make their children aware of ethics.
