COVID-19 AND ITS REMEDIES IN THE LIGHT OF ISLAMIC TEACHINGS

Abstract

This article examines how Islam calls on Muslims to use caution in the event of a pandemic disaster. Islam's sacred book, the Quran, is regarded by Muslims as the inspired word of God and is a reliable source of instruction languifical government advice on science. This research explores the Quranic claim that Muslims must perform charity works and persevere in the goal of actively finding solutions to issues people encounter rather than merely fatalistically yielding to fate and Allah's might alone, in the face of a pandemic catastrophe. In this regard, the Quran encourages Muslims to exercise care and take steps to prevent the spread of sickness, engage in acts of charity, persevere, and avoid falling for malicious rumors. It also urges Muslims to put their faith in religious and medical authorities during times of crisis. This paper analyzes the rise of the novel coronavirus (Covid19) around the world and its effect as several publications have highlighted. It also discusses the unsolved controversies related to the virus and the relevant replies from the Islamic sources especially the hadith/Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. It concludes that Islam had the best ability to deal with the given situation of the pandemic but it has definitely awakened the scholars around the world to keep viewing this phenomenon with other dimensions as well.
