Contemporary Clash of Civilizations and Iqbal’s Strategies of Peaceful Co-existence

Abstract

The clash among civilizations has been an integral part of the Historical narratives for centuries. Is never-ending lust for victory leads to clashes between the rich and the poor nations and banishes world peace leading to cruelty and oppression, globally. In 1993, Samuel P. Huntington used the term clash of civilizations for this daunting plight, highlighting how the Western social order wishes to put an end to opposing civilizations. In the early half of the 2000s served to keep Huntington's paradigm controversial, debatable, and pertinent. The clash of civilizations is one of the most significant issues of contemporary times. It poses serious threats to world peace and hence feelings of mutual reverence and constructive dialogue among nations can help in the formulation of a peaceful world order. The teachings of Iqbal can serve as a guiding light on this issue. His balance and just philosophies about the East and the West can help in bridging the present-day gap. In his Universal Social Reconstruction theory, Iqbal states that humanity needs three vital aspects in the present times. This research aims to highlight the impact of the clash of civilizations on mankind and worldly affairs and how peaceful co-existence can be endorsed globally. The study also explores how Iqbal's Universal social reconstruction theory can be applied to avoid conflicts among nations and how it can play an effective role in diminishing the aftermath of clashes and conflict among the Eastern and Western forces.
