Methodology of Imam Al-Waahidi in Cross- referencing from Arabic poetry in Tafseer-E-Baseet

Abstract

Allah has sent down the Holy Qura’an in Arabic, which is the best language, and it is clear that Arab poetry is a means of speech and expression such as the Arab proselytism. It is impossible to understand the Holy Quran without having a good grasp of Arabic. This is why the Arabic poetry is called “The register of the Arabs”(ديوان العرب). Therefore, the interpreters were returning to the constant poetry to find out what to find out what was hidden from them from the verses of the Qura’an. The Book of Imama Al-Wahdi (Al-Tafseer al Baseet) is one of the famous and universally acknowledged book for the language-searched interpretations which has hundreds of poetic evidence. So in this search, We showed Sheikh Al-Wahidi's approach to poetry in his interpretation and to point out those objectives where he has quoted the Arabic poetry in his book. This article will put some lights on the life of Imama Wahidi, and then describe the methodlogy of Imam Waahidi in Istishhaad bi-Shear (Cross-referencing of poetry) in Tafsee-e-Baseet with detail.
