The Concept of Unity in the Light of Iqbal's Thought & it’s Contemporary Application

Abstract

Allama Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan presented the idea of the creation of separate state for Muslims in subcontinent. Allama Iqbal had strong believe in purposeful poetry. Iqbal’s poetry rewarded a vital role in promotion of true spirit of Islamic ideology in Muslims minds that showed the way to get rid of colonial slavery. That is why Iqbal has been considered not only a poet but as a reformer and influential philosopher. Iqbal advised the Muslims of subcontinent to adopt the way of Unity among the Muslims as right path towards sustainable development and wellbeing of the Muslim community. In the light of the Iqbal viewpoint, it has been recommended for revival of Muslims in the world that they have to follow the concept of Unity, research and innovation in all walks of life. According to Iqbal, the main reason for the decline of Muslims is the mutual discrimination between them as well as the lack of communal harmony among them. In this paper it has been admitted that the concept of Unity is prominently reflected in Iqbal's poetry, speeches and writings. In this article, in the light of Iqbal's thought, an attempt has been made to reveal the foundations of Unity and it has been declared that without adopting the policies aligned with the concept of Unity suggested by the artist of Pakistan at all levels, Pakistan cannot be brought to its true destination.
