The Authenticity and Importance of the Sanad: The Perspective of Maulana Amin Ahsan Islahi

Abstract

Maulana Amin Ahsan Islahi, representative and translator of Farahi school of thought, has a special thinking on the relation of the sunnah and Hadith with Qur’an. This is an analytical study of Maulana Ameen Ahsan Islahi’s understanding about Sanad. For this purpose, data is gathered from secondary sources that include books, articles and online sources. According to him, the whole stock of Hadith depends upon the relates or sayings of the transmitters which cannot be secured from suspecting. So Ahadith require interrogation and investigation. For the purpose Maulana Amin Ahsan Islahi selected some specific rules and regulations for the research and exploration of the Hadith. In his opinion every Hadith would be observed and investigated under these rules to decide about its authenticity.
